04 Nov When is it Time for a New Water Heater?
How is your hot water supply, now that it’s finally cooling off? If you’ve been struggling to get enough hot water for your family, then it might be time for a new water heater!
Let’s start with a checkup. Your water heater needs an annual checkup for maintenance as well as a flush. This proactive care will help keep it running more efficiently and extend its lifespan. Our technician will also perform an inspection and let you know if they suspect any future problems. Depending on their findings, or if your current one just isn’t working well for you, we’d also be happy to help you replace it!
We’re here to help you pick your new model, install it, and service it routinely so it continues to run as well and as long as possible. If you haven’t had your annual water heater check up yet, this is your sign to schedule now!
We’d also like to share the warning signs that it might be time to think about a new water heater. There are several red flags that might be signaling you that it’s time, including:
1. Your water heater is more than 10 years old. The average lifespan for one is 6-12 years, depending on maintenance. If you’re not sure of its age, you can check the manufacturer’s label or the serial number.
2. Strange noises sound when it’s running. If your water heater is making strange noises, you’ll at least want to get it checked out. As it ages, sediment will build up at the bottom of the tank, causing rumbling noises that can grow worse with age.
3. You’re getting rusty water out of the tap. As your water heater ages, you will also find more corrosion inside of the tank. This may send rust into your water after the parts preventing this are worn down.
4. You’re experiencing a hot water shortage. If you and your family struggle to get hot water, or if it doesn’t last as long as you need it, then it’s time to consider a water heater replacement. A new unit will last more efficiently and effectively.
5. Water puddles gather around it. While this may signal that your tanks need to be flushed, it may also signal that there are fractures. If you see water outside of your water heater, call an expert! This may be a signal your tank is under too much pressure, which can cause a burst.
Whether or not you’re looking for a new water heater, call an expert if you see any of these warning signs! We’ll provide quick, quality service to help you figure out what’s going on.
